Police arrest 2 more in Baruipur lynching case; 7 now in custody
Lynching of an innocent man is a grave abuse of power and failure of justice.
The police arrested two more people, Shamim Ali Khan and Farooq Sardar, on Saturday in connection with the lynching of Indrajit Mondal in Baruipur, West Bengal. Seven suspects are now in custody over the July 5 incident where a mob suspected Mondal of raping and murdering a Class 6 girl; he was innocent. The police registered charges including murder by lynching and rioting against those arrested. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited Mondal’s home, offering Rs 25 lakh compensation to his family.
