A Nedumangad court granted an interim bail to R. Sugathan, a BJP leader and Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor, allowing him to attend the swearing-in ceremony on July 13th and 14th. The bail is subject to the Kerala High Court's decision on his bail plea in a case under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA). Mr. Sugathan was among 20 BJP councillors ordered to retake their oaths for violating swearing-in norms, but could not do so due to his incarceration at Viyyur Central Prison.
