The assault occurred on Monday after a family complained about their newborn being transferred to another facility due to a full NICU. Mhatre, who has one kidney and high blood pressure, is receiving treatment at the Thane Civil Hospital. A court in Kalyan rejected an application to allow Mhatre to appear for a hearing via video conferencing due to his health condition. Doctors said they will issue a medical bulletin on Mhatre's condition by Thursday evening or Friday morning, determining a possible discharge.
