Prabhash Mondol, the main accused in the gangrape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in West Bengal, was killed in a police encounter late Tuesday night. Police allege that Mondol snatched a policeman’s firearm and fired at the party before being shot dead during the encounter. The incident occurred near where the victim's body was found in a pond. The encounter followed an investigation into the crime which saw four people arrested, including Mondol, Ananda Sardar, Dibakar Sardar, and Kabir Mollah.
