India, Indonesia expand defence ties; New Delhi to supply BrahMos missiles
During a visit to Indonesia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Prabowo Subianto signed several agreements aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation. The two sides agreed on the supply of India's BrahMos and Astra missiles to Indonesia, strengthening maritime security. India also pledged investments in critical mineral supply chains, including steel, nickel, and rare earth magnets, in Indonesia. Additionally, both countries agreed to jointly develop the Sabang port and enhance cooperation in areas like defense exchanges, disaster management, and industrial cooperation. Modi emphasized a growing trust between India and Indonesia, which he believes will lead to a "golden chapter" of partnership.
