Ram temple trust overhauls leadership after donation theft allegations

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the organization managing the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, has undergone a leadership overhaul following allegations of donation theft. The trust accepted the resignations of general secretary Champat Rai and another official, Anil Mishra, after police registered a case of alleged embezzlement against eight individuals. Krishna Mohan, a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), was named interim general secretary. The trust has received over 5.82 billion rupees in donations since 2024 and spent 3.19 billion rupees on temple upkeep, but the extent of the alleged theft remains unclear. The trust is seeking to restore public trust following accusations that money and valuables were mishandled.
