E.V. Velu seeks Madras High Court to quash DVAC FIR in highways scam case
Allegations of corruption against a former minister should be a matter of concern.
E.V. Velu, a former DMK minister, has filed a petition in the Madras High Court to quash an FIR registered against him by the DVAC for alleged corruption related to public funds allocated for road projects. The FIR was based on a complaint filed by Jayaram Venkatesan, convenor of the anti-corruption organization Arappor Iyakkam. The complaint accused Mr. Velu and other officials of misusing over ₹5,000 crore from the Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Development Programme (CRIDP). The case is currently pending before Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan.
