Manipur MLA Vungzagin Valte laid to rest four months after death
Vungzagin Valte, a former Manipur MLA, was laid to rest on July 4th, 2026, in Churachandpur district after his death in May 2023. The funeral service was attended by Yumnam Khemchand Singh, the state's first Chief Minister to visit the district since the ethnic conflict between the tribal Kuki and non-tribal Meitei communities broke out in May 2023. The conflict, triggered by a venue burning in Churachandpur where his predecessor, Nongthombam Biren Singh, was scheduled to attend an event, led to Valte's death.
