BJP Councillor Sugathan Denied Bail, Remains in Jail for 12 Cases
A politician accused of assault and attacking police is held under a stringent law.
R. Sugathan, a BJP leader and Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor, was denied bail in two separate cases related to an assault on an individual and an attack on police officials. The Nedumangad Court rejected his pleas, leaving him in custody at the Central Prison, Viyyur, where he has been held under provisions of the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA). Sugathan faces a total of 12 cases, including attempted murder and destruction of property.
