Dalit migrant workers’ lynching leaves Kerala aghast and draws across-the-aisle political condemnation

A mob lynched Ram Narayan, a Dalit migrant labourer from Chhattisgarh, in Kerala on suspicion of being a "felonious alien" from Bangladesh. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the act as an "aberration" and announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team to investigate. Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan called it a "shameful blot" on Kerala's humanist legacy, while Revenue Minister K. Rajan promised compensation for the family and requested the return of the deceased's remains. CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan blamed the RSS, accusing them of attempting to murder CPI(M) activists in Palakkad.
