
M.P. High Court orders protection for judge facing threats after verdict in lynching case
Threats against a judge for upholding justice signal a dangerous erosion of the legal system.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered the state police to provide protection to Judge Tabassum Khan after she sentenced seven cow vigilantes to life imprisonment for mob lynching a truck driver. The court took suo motu cognizance of threats against the judge following her June 12 judgment and issued notices to the DGP and Home Secretary seeking their response within three days. The Narmadapuram police have already lodged an FIR in the case.
