India, Japan Unveil Resilience Partnership To Boost Energy Security

India and Japan agreed to deepen cooperation on energy security, launching a comprehensive partnership focused on strategic petroleum reserves, resilient supply chains, and maritime energy transport. The agreement was formalized during Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's visit to New Delhi, where she met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The partnership aims to strengthen energy resilience against geopolitical uncertainties by collaborating in strategic oil stockpiling, market stability, energy transport, institutional partnerships, and regular policy dialogue. Both countries will explore opportunities to secure energy supplies from third countries and invest in upstream oil and gas assets overseas. The agreement also includes a commitment to enhance maritime energy logistics through joint investments across the value chain.
