The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested TMC councillor Shakir Ali, who is accused of instigating the mob during the 2023 Ram Navami violence in Rishra. The agency recovered 36 rounds of cartridges from his residence and obtained a two-day NIA custody for Ali. CCTV footage identified Ali as the main conspirator, and he was allegedly tasked by another accused, Shah Rukh Khuresi, to gather bombs. Ali is currently under investigation.
