Iran has extended invitations to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, and party’s media and publicity wing head Pawan Khera to attend the burial ceremonies of late leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Indian delegation will likely be led by Bihar Governor Lt. General Syed Ata Hasnain (retd) and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, he has prior commitments that prevent him from attending the ceremonies in Tehran and Qom, which will take place from July 3 to 9.
