Kerala Governor gives assent to Seshadrinathan’s appointment as State Election Commissioner

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the Kerala Governor, approved the appointment of N. Seshadrinathan, a judge from the Family Court in Irinjlakuda, as the Kerala State Election Commissioner. The decision was met with criticism from within the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) who accused the government of nominating an alleged "RSS fellow traveller". The CPI(M) leader M.V. Govindan claimed this appointment was a strategic move by the UDF to benefit the BJP's electoral prospects, further highlighting the Chief Minister's perceived shift towards the right.
