US-sanctioned SBL Energy made last Sudan shipment in January: Sources | Mumbai News
US-sanctioned company exported to Sudan despite potential misuse of explosives.
SBL Energy Ltd, an Indian explosives manufacturer, recently exported its last shipment to Sudan in January 2023, nearly six months before the US sanctions were imposed. The company had been exporting to Sudan since 2022 and claims it supplied only industrial-grade mining explosives intended for civilian use. The company maintains that it was not the principal supplier of explosives to Target Multi Activities Co Ltd (TMAC), a Sudanese firm sanctioned by the US for supplying explosives to the Sudanese Armed Forces. SBL Energy Ltd is now facing sanctions from the US and has engaged legal counsel to seek removal from the list.
