Material sent to Sudan only for use in mining: Firm after US sanctions | Mumbai News

The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned SBL Energy Ltd and its CEO, Alok Choudhari, for allegedly supplying explosives to the Sudanese Armed Forces. However, SBL Energy Ltd, which manufactures industrial explosives used in mining operations, clarified that it only supplied 10 shipments of explosives since 2022, not 200 as reported. The company maintains that its products are not intended for weapons and obtained export licenses based on declarations from the end user confirming their intended use for mining purposes. The company plans to present its case before the US Treasury Department with evidence and request the removal of sanctions.
