Activists’ body urges NCPCR to take action against T.N. Minister Viswanathan for touching girl athletes’ legs
Alleged inappropriate touching of minors by a minister raises serious concerns.
Tamil Nadu Child Rights Watch (TNCRW) has urged the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to investigate P. Viswanathan, the Higher Education Minister, after he allegedly touched the legs of girl athletes at a school event in Madurai. The organization also requested that the NCPCR recommend protocols for interactions between public officials and children, and directed the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police to examine the incident and consider legal action if necessary. TNCRW further urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to investigate programs held at government schools in celebration of his birthday, arguing they were inappropriate and inconsistent with educational norms.
