B. Manickam Tagore, a three-time Lok Sabha member and Rahul Gandhi loyalist, has been appointed president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) following the removal of K. Selvaperunthagai. Selvaperunthagai requested AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge to relieve him as TNCC chief after a period marked by internal squabbles and friction with the DMK, the party's long-time ally. The new alliance is expected to continue for upcoming elections.
