Home Minister G. Parameshwara and the Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity by the Government of Karnataka (CySecK) have noted a decline in cybercrime recovery rates in Karnataka, with losses from long-duration scams increasing significantly. The state saw 22,478 cybercrime cases in 2024, totaling ₹2,562 crore in financial fraud, compared to 22,255 cases and ₹873.29 crore in 2023. Bengaluru Southeast CEN police investigated a case involving a man who used multiple delivery personnel to execute credit card scams, draining victims' bank accounts through compromised mobile phones. The Criminal Investigation Department’s Cybercrime Wing emphasizes the importance of reporting OTP-related frauds promptly to maximize recovery chances.
