LDF drowned Kerala in liquor, says Minister O.J. Janeesh

O.J. Janeesh, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, alleged that the Kerala government's liquor consumption increased under the previous LDF administration, citing a rise in bars from 29 to 884 during their ten-year rule. He stated that the UDF government has not yet announced its liquor policy but clarified that it will be finalized after discussions within the party. Mr. Janeesh also noted that the proposal for tax reduction on foreign liquor was first made by CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan during his tenure as Excise Minister in 2021.
