The Ahmedabad rural police have busted a racket involving a former pharmaceutical executive, Dinesh Chaudhary, who allegedly replaced genuine blood plasma with spurious versions and sold them to blood banks in Maharashtra for half the market rate. Chaudhary, along with his associates Mohan Gaikwad and others, were arrested after investigations revealed that 562 units of plasma sourced from five blood banks in Maharashtra were found to be spurious. The Gujarat State Blood Transfusion Council has been alerted and is monitoring at least 700 blood banks in Gujarat.
