Circle Inspector S V Nagaraju has been arrested in connection with the death of Perupogu Kranthi Kumar, a Dalit youth who died by suicide on May 21st. The four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating both the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna and the circumstances surrounding Kranthi Kumar's death, alleging that he was tortured while in police custody. The SIT has found evidence suggesting that Krishna suffered fatal injuries while in police custody and that his remains were disposed of as an unidentified body. The incident has prompted the Andhra Pradesh government to form a special investigation team and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has sought a report on the matter.
