Abuse of power by an elected official and assault on public servants is a serious concern.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava and eight others were sentenced to seven years in prison by a Rajpipla sessions court for their involvement in an assault of forest officials and extortion case. The incident occurred on October 30, 2023, after forest officials removed crops illegally grown on government land, leading to a dispute at the residence of Vasava in Dediapada town. Vasava fired a round in the air during the altercation, which resulted in charges under the Indian Police Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.
