Buoyed by ‘improved security’, displaced Pandits converge on Kashmir temple in their thousands

A record number of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, over 214 buses carrying them to the Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal, converged on the site for the annual pilgrimage. The influx was welcomed by local Muslims and regional parties like the NC and PDP, who expressed hope for the community's return and reconciliation. The event saw devotees expressing relief at the improved security situation and a renewed sense of safety, while others shared their experiences of visiting their ancestral homes after decades of displacement. Local universities and organizations also provided support to the pilgrims with refreshments and services.
