
Rebel BJP Leader Defeats Eknath Shinde Nominee In Maharashtra Council Polls
Eknath Shinde's party candidate, Narendra Darade, lost the Maharashtra Legislative Council Nashik district local governing body constituency election to rebel BJP leader Gokul Gite. The ruling Mahayuti alliance secured victory in 16 out of 17 seats. Despite campaigning efforts by Shinde and other elected representatives, Darade received fewer votes than Gite, who won with a margin of 109 votes. The election was initially scheduled for 17 seats but was reduced to 11 after unopposed victories by candidates from the BJP, Shinde's Shiv Sena, and the NCP.
