Kaffir screen shot controversy: DYFI national president Rahim moves police against ‘smear campaign’
A.A. Rahim, national president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), filed a complaint with the Medical College Police in Thiruvananthapuram demanding an investigation into a viral social media smear campaign targeting K.K. Shailaja, CPI(M) candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Vadakara. Jithin Bhaskar, a DYFI leader who runs a local WhatsApp group, was arrested and remanded in judicial custody for orchestrating the campaign. The campaign allegedly aimed to undermine Shafi Parambil, Congress leader, by highlighting religious differences between the candidates. Several leaders, including K K Lathika, had shared the controversial screenshot on social media during the election campaign. The investigation is ongoing.
