Kerala Budget: New Budget has a long wish list, but not enough money allocated to make it a reality, says Thomas Isaac

T.M. Thomas Isaac, a former Finance Minister and CPI(M) Central Committee member, criticized the budget presented by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, stating it lacks sufficient funding for its ambitious projects. He highlighted insufficient allocations for major initiatives like the Oommen Chandy insurance scheme and new medical colleges, while also accusing the government of expanding the horti-wine category to include corporate liquor manufacturers. Isaac further disputed claims about reduced allocations for SC-ST categories and accused Chief Minister Satheesan of attempting to damage the credibility of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
