India to eradicate sickle cell anaemia before 2047, target: President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu stated that India aims to eradicate sickle cell anaemia before the 2047 target, urging states not to underestimate its impact on tribal communities. She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission - 2047 for being a first-of-its-kind initiative integrating public health, tribal welfare, genetic science, and digital monitoring across 17 participating states. The mission has achieved key targets ahead of schedule, including screening over seven crore people between zero and 40 years of age.
