Potential abuse of power by a politician's family is a serious concern.
T. Veena, daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, appeared at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Kochi for questioning in connection with the probe into the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) pay-off case. She arrived accompanied by her husband, P.A. Mohamed Riyas, who is also a Beypore MLA. The ED has been investigating allegations that CMRL made payments of ₹2.78 crore to Exalogic IT company without receiving any services in return. The agency had previously questioned the daughters of CMRL managing director and joint managing directors, as well as other individuals connected to the case.
