"Punishment Will Be Severe": Vijay Unveils Special Women's Safety Force

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay launched the Singappen Special Force, a dedicated women's safety unit, to address crimes against women. The force will focus on crime-prone areas and enhance surveillance at locations frequented by women. The initiative is funded with over Rs 354 crore and will initially be staffed by redeployed personnel, with plans for 2,500 new positions in the second phase. TVK MLA Revanth Charan expressed confidence that the force would make a significant difference to women's safety. The launch was met with criticism from the DMK who accused Vijay of using government resources for personal image-building.
