
8 Workers Killed At Vizag Steel Plant As Molten Iron Spills
Eight worker deaths due to industrial negligence is a serious safety failure.
Eight workers at the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (Vizag Steel Plant) were killed and six others injured when molten iron spilled on them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and offered an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also expressed his grief and directed relief measures. The incident occurred at 4:15 pm on Monday when molten iron was being moved in a bucket by a crane.
