BMC panel nod to appoint consultants for Rs 3 cr without tenders for 2 civic projects | Mumbai News

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) standing committee approved two proposals allowing the administration to appoint external agencies without tenders, at a cost of Rs 3 crore. The approvals allow for the appointment of IIT-B as a proof-checking agency for a proposed transit hub in Dahisar and Ernst & Young (E&Y) as a technical and management consultant for the BMC’s Participate Mumbai initiative. The administration requested exemption from the standard tendering process, citing the need to address social and cultural development, educational initiatives, welfare measures, environmental sustainability, and awareness. The decisions come after scrutiny over the BMC's use of Project Management Consultants (PMCs) instead of utilizing its own departments for civic projects.
