British Foreign Secretary's First Delhi Visit Strengthens India-UK Ties

Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, concluded a two-day official visit to India, leaving behind agreements that signal the rapid maturation of the bilateral partnership. Cooper held extensive talks with Dr S Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister, and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reviewing the five pillars of the India-UK Vision 2035 framework: Growth, Technology and Innovation, Defence and Security, Climate and Clean Energy, and Education. The visit included the handover of a Letter of Approval to the University of Liverpool for its new campus in Bengaluru, an agreement on a Regional Maritime Security Centre for Excellence between King's College London and India's National Maritime Foundation, and the launch of the UK-India Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory. These agreements demonstrate the growing strategic importance of the India-UK relationship.
