Karnataka cabinet portfolios allocated, but disgruntlement remains
Mr. Shivakumar, the newly sworn-in Karnataka Chief Minister, allocated portfolios to his cabinet on Thursday (June 5, 2026). The most contested portfolio, Bengaluru Development, was given to Krishna Byre Gowda. Senior Minister Ramalinga Reddy received Major and Medium Irrigation. Priyank Kharge will be the new Home Minister, while G. Parameshwara has been assigned Revenue and Sports. Eshwar Khandre is in charge of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, and Byrathi Suresh holds Transport. The allocation of Bengaluru Development portfolio remains a contentious issue.
