Karnataka cabinet portfolios allocated, but disgruntlement remains
Mr. Shivakumar, the newly-sworn in Karnataka Chief Minister, allocated portfolios to his cabinet on Thursday after a day of negotiations and discontent among some ministers. Krishna Byre Gowda received the coveted Bengaluru Development portfolio previously held by Mr. Shivakumar. Ramalinga Reddy, who had sought the portfolio, was given Major and Medium Irrigation. Other key changes included Priyank Kharge as Home Minister and G. Parameshwara as Revenue and Sports Minister. The allocation of the Bengaluru Development portfolio is likely to remain a contentious issue in the lead-up to upcoming civic polls.
