At least 21 people died in a fire at a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar. The fire, which started in the basement and spread to the upper floors of the five-story building, was extinguished with the help of eight fire engines. Lovkesh Bajaj, owner of the hotel, is on the run. Delhi Police are investigating the cause of the fire. NDTV reported that 37 people were rescued from the building and 17 fire tenders were deployed. The victims included foreign nationals who were in the city for medical treatment. The Delhi government has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those killed and Rs 50,000 to those injured. President Droupadi Murmu expressed condolences over the tragedy.
