The Punjab government removed Amritsar Rural SSP Suhel Qasim Mir from his post following an incident at the Majitha police station where former minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia and others allegedly attempted to release a detainee. Kanwalpreet Singh, currently PPS officer in Amritsar Rural, has been given additional charge of SSP Amritsar Rural. Satinder Singh, previously DIG Ludhiana Range, is now the Commissioner of Police (CP), Jalandhar. Other officers have also been transferred or posted with new responsibilities.
