Amid Public Fury, Trinamool Leaders Return 'Cut Money' In Bengal Village

In Cooch Behar's Mathabhanga district, Trinamool Congress leaders and workers are returning money they collected as "cut money" or through extortion. The unprecedented incident took place on Sunday in the Fakirer Kuthi area of Pachagarh Gram Panchayat, where villagers were called to a gathering. Tapan Dey, the TMC booth president, personally handed back some of the money to several villagers. Babai Barman, a highly influential Trinamool leader who is currently on the run, has also been forced to return some funds.
