Congress lawmakers will meet on Saturday to elect D K Shivakumar as the party's new leader. The meeting, overseen by K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala, is expected to be followed by a swearing-in ceremony for Shivakumar as chief minister on Sunday or Monday. Siddaramaiah, the outgoing chief minister, will propose Shivakumar's candidacy and the Congress high command may authorize the selection of the new leader.
