D K Shivakumar, the newly elected leader of the Karnataka Congress Legislature Party (CLP), will be sworn in as Chief Minister on June 3rd. The CLP unanimously chose him following the resignation of Siddaramaiah, who stepped down to make way for a power-sharing agreement with Shivakumar. The new CM is expected to appoint a new Cabinet and may include several new faces while dropping over half of the ministers from the previous government. K C Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala, both AICC officials, were present at the CLP meeting and confirmed the transition. The Governor has invited Shivakumar to take oath along with his new ministers.
