Will accord top priority to safety of women and children: T.N. tells Madras High Court

Tamil Nadu's Attorney General, Vijay Narayan, informed the Madras High Court that the government is prioritizing the safety of women and children by developing an action plan to prevent and prosecute sexual crimes against them. He acknowledged delays in trial completion for such offenses but assured the court that measures are being taken to strengthen police forces and ensure swift justice. The Attorney General stated that a detailed plan would take two to three weeks to develop, including establishing more forensic laboratories. The court issued an interim order directing the Mahila Court in Tiruvannamalai to complete the trial of the PIL petitioner by July 31, 2026.
