Congress’ wait to join the Tamil Nadu Cabinet continues
Rahul Gandhi attended the swearing-in ceremony of C. Joseph Vijay, the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, on Sunday (May 10, 2026). However, despite the Congress's request for both of its MLAs to be sworn in as Cabinet Ministers at the same time, the Tamil Nadu Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) opted to delay the swearing-in. The TVK is planning to include members from other coalition partners like the AIADMK in the cabinet expansion. The decision not to immediately swear in the Congress MLAs was seen as a missed opportunity by some party leaders who felt it would have sent a strong message of unity.
