DMK’s Periyakaruppan moves Madras HC to prevent TVK MLA from participating in vote of confidence
K.R. Periyakaruppan, leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court seeking to prevent Seenivasa Sethupathy of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) from participating in the trust vote for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The petition argues that votes cast in Periyakaruppan's Tirupattur constituency were not recounted properly, and therefore the elected candidate should be disqualified. The case will be heard by a summer vacation Bench of Justices L. Victoria Gowri and N. Senthilkumar on May 10, 2026.
