T.N. Governor asks TVK chief Vijay to produce proof of support of majority MLAs; Congress says ‘yes’ but AIADMK ‘no’
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the Tamil Nadu Governor, requested C. Joseph Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), to provide evidence of support from 118 MLAs to form a government. The TVK won 108 seats in the recent election and needs additional support from seven legislators to reach the majority mark. The Congress, which previously had an alliance with the DMK, has extended its support to the TVK, hoping for two Cabinet positions. Edappadi K Palaniswami, a senior leader of the AIADMK, refuted reports that his party would support the TVK. The DMK's allies, including the CPI and CPI(M), are yet to decide on their stance.
