Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: CPI, Kerala Congress (M) suffer electoral drubbing in Ernakulam
The Communist Party of India (CPI) and Kerala Congress (M) experienced electoral losses in the Ernakulam district Assembly elections. Mathew Kuzhalnadan of the Congress defeated N. Arun of the CPI in Muvattupuzha, while V. D Satheesan of the Congress defeated E.T. Taison of the CPI in Paravur. The decline in votes for both parties was attributed to anti-incumbency factors and consolidation of minority votes towards the United Democratic Front (UDF). The results reflected a broader trend of the Left front's performance declining in the state.
