The Karur stampede is yet to fade from the memory of the voters at Velusamypuram

Velusamypuram, the site of a deadly political rally tragedy in September 2025, saw brisk polling on Thursday. Voters were grappling with the lingering impact of the stampede that claimed 41 lives, including nine children, while awaiting answers about the cause and those responsible. C. Joseph Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), was accused in the case but voters largely refrained from discussing it during the election process. The polling station at Velusamypuram recorded 81.31% turnout with almost four hours remaining before closing.
