Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian territories, presented her report "Torture and Genocide" to the UN Human Rights Council, detailing systematic torture by Israel against Palestinians in detention centers and Gaza. The report also documented over 18,500 arrests, including 1,500 children, and more than 4,000 enforced disappearances. Meanwhile, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel in February, India upgraded its ties with the country to a "Special Strategic Partnership". Ms. Albanese stated that while India is violating international law by associating with Israel, it may also be facing responsibility for its actions.
