Mahayuti to launch signature campaign in Maharashtra on Women’s Reservation Bill

The ruling Mahayuti party in Maharashtra is launching a signature campaign from April 21 to collect one crore signatures of women, protesting the recent defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill and Delimitation Bill. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis challenged the opposition parties for an open debate on the issue, accusing them of stalling increased women's reservation and SC/ST reservations. Supriya Sule, an NCP SP MP, and Praniti Shinde, a Congress MP, accepted the challenge, while Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, was accused by Fadnavis of being a liar. The opposition parties countered that the government is trying to use the issue for political gain ahead of elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
