India to host Foreign Minister-level meetings of BRICS and Quad in May

India will host the BRICS Foreign Ministers meeting in May, marking the first time officials from Iran and the United Arab Emirates will meet since the conflict began. The meeting comes amidst efforts to hold a Quad Foreign Ministers meeting in late May, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expected to visit India in that timeframe. India, as current BRICS chair, is keen to host the Quad summit this year, despite uncertainty surrounding US President Donald Trump's schedule and the ongoing conflict in the Gulf. The meeting will also address the energy shockwaves caused by Iran's chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz, with UAE Minister Sheikh Shakhbooth Al Nahyan condemning Iran's actions.
